Baby Food

Ok, so let's talk about baby food. First of all, why do we buy pre-made baby food? I get that it's convenient, but who are we kidding, it's expensive, has a history of growing mold, and has added preservatives. So why not just make it yourself for half the cost and all the nutrition?

My favorite thing about Kitchen Craft waterless cookware, is that instead of cooking all the nutrition out of your food by steaming or boiling it, it keeps all the nutrition in the food by cooking within it's own natural moisture. So let's make some baby food!

 

What you'll need:

                       
  • Blender (We use a Vitamix) 
  • Freezer trays 
  • Your choice of fresh fruits or veggies (we demonstrate with zucchini) 

 

Instructions:

Chop up fruits or veggies, place into sauce pan and give it a quick rinse with cool water, make sure to drain water out completely. Place on stovetop  on medium heat until vapors begin to rise (about 5 minutes) then give the lid a little spin to create a vapor seal. Turn heat to the lowest setting and allow to cook for 8 more minutes. Pour into blender, blend until smooth and pour into freezer trays. These do not have to be frozen if they are going to be eaten within the next day or two. But to prevent the food from going bad, I like to freeze and defrost the day they are going to be eaten.
